VM choice: Mulberry's floral cardiology

Celebrating London Fashion Week (19 - 23 February 2016), Mulberry’s Bond Street window is filled with a large heart. Not so unusual perhaps. Except that instead of the stylized red, symmetrical icon we might expect is a huge glossy white resin cardiology version, bedecked with white roses.

The giant cone-shaped heart has accurate looking ventricles, atria and aorta. It is suspended on sturdy chains, and has a huge presence.

Mulberry has taken a core organ essential to animal and human life and transformed it in to something visually beautiful. The heart is festooned with roses, taking inspiration from the monochrome rose print which forms the background of the windows, and which is also used in the new F/W 2016 collection just shown at London Fashion Week. However, it is the meaning that is attributed to the heart which makes this a really compelling window.
