Appear Here to take pop-up revolution to Paris

Pop-up retail marketplace Appear Here is heading to Paris in the first stage of a planned international expansion. The short-term retail specialist agency was founded by Ross Bailey in London in 2013 and has grown rapidly.

More than 15,000 brands have used Appear Here’s services, including big name brands such as Apple, Net-a-Porter and LVMH. Appear Here has launched more than 2,500 pop-ups in London.

Paris has a more formal retail property market than rival capitals such as London. “Paris has always been one of my favourite cities – there’s nothing better than simply wandering round its streets and taking it all in,” says Bailey. “But I was surprised to learn how hard it is for young brands and designers to get access to space in this city. We’ve even had Parisian brands launch ideas with us in London because they couldn’t in Paris.”

Parisian Julien Krief, a former real estate private equity specialist, has helped to set up the Paris operation. “Every day I see amazing retail spaces sitting empty in Paris. When you think it’s one of the top cities for fashion and retail, it doesn’t make sense,” says Krief.

Almost 1,000 brands and retailers have signed up to appear on Appear Here’s new website for the French market. It is offering retail spaces from Marias to Saint Germain. A pop-up store will operate at 130 Rue de Turenne during Paris Fashion Week to highlight the initiative.
