Design showcase: Muddica bistro, Milan

Sicilian design agency DiDeA has converted a former tailor’s shop in Milan into Muddica, a two roomed Bistro and Sicilian-style delicatessen.

The agency was briefed to create a cozy and friendly place to spend time and buy traditional products. Wood and iron were chosen as the main materials for furniture and fittings to help achieve this, whole the floor is tiled with hexagonal tiles.

Sliding tables and high stools allow for flexible seating arrangements, on a wall facing a wood and iron counter. A wooden ceiling and red brick wall that were uncovered during renovations have been retained.

Vintage white wall tiles are used behind the counter, enhancing the appeal of the black iron shelves.
