Experiential Nespresso store format reaches UK

Coffee brand Nespresso has brought its new experiential store concept to the UK for the first time, installing it at a unit in the Liverpool ONE development. The store is the third example of the new concept – understood to have been developed in-house – to be opened worldwide.

The 147 sq m (1,600 sq ft) store focuses on providing an immersive environment, with experiential elements such as a tasting counter and the provision of workshops with coffee experts.

Bespoke, interactive classes are available for customers, letting them compare the brand’s Grand Crus and limited edition ranges, along with demonstrations of Nespresso machines and accessories.

Nespresso – which has been criticised for the environmental impact of its single-serve coffee pods – has emphasised the sustainable materials used in the store. These include tabletops made of used coffee grounds from its Swiss factory, and wood sourced from Nespresso reforestation projects on coffee farms. Capsules can be returned to the store for recycling.

“It is a very exciting step for us to introduce our new boutique concept to the UK and Peter’s Lane at Liverpool ONE is the perfect setting to do so.  It is a stylish, modern location at the heart of the city and the premium brands alongside us add to a wonderful shopping experience,” says Nespresso UK & Ireland managing director Francisco Nogueira.
