Dragons turn down sustainable mannequin opportunity

Global Display group managing director Alan Pegram failed to secure investment for environmentally-friendly mannequins from the dragons on BBC2’s Dragons’ Den – but he did raise the profile of both sustainability and the visual merchandising industry, says the VM company.

“It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience, which has given myself and the team plenty to think about,” says Alan Pegram of his televised grilling. “On reflection more focus should have been placed on the importance of making the in-store experience more inviting – and how mannequins are intrinsic to this… It’s so important that the VM sector approaches this in a more environmentally conscious way.”

Pegram has not been put off by the lack of investment from the show. “The dragons got it wrong this time… watch this space,” he says.
