Kesslers acquires Carters Design to kickstart further growth

Retail display specialist Kesslers International has acquired Carters Design, which specialises in watch and accessory displays, as part of a new growth strategy.

Now in its 125th year, Kesslers International was run as a family business for three generations before being acquired by SME fund Enact, managed by private equity group Endless, in March 2016. It was subsequently acquired by Elaghmore Private Equity in September 2017.

The team at Carters Design will remain in its Leicestershire office, being rebranded as the midlands office of Kesslers International. Carters Design produces P-O-P displays for watch brands including Breitling, Sekonda, and Accurist.

“Carters is widely respected for its focus on creating stunning designs,” says Kesslers CEO Guy Stanton. “The acquisition of Carters will further strengthen our position as a display specialist for the jewellery and watch industry. We are looking to provide innovative display solutions for watches and jewellery and will be exhibiting in 2018 at the International Jewellery London show as well as Retail Design Expo. We also expect to feature heavily at this year’s POPAI event in Paris.”

In a separate move, Kesslers has also recruited Daniel Shields, an account director with extensive watch sector experience, to work at its London office.

The company will also be launching a new innovation lab and showroom next month (February 2018) to showcase its latest work and technology, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and near field communication (NFC).

Kesslers reports 8 per cent sales growth in 2017, and predicts double digit growth in 2018, accompanied by a rebrand and new website. Clients include Coty, L’Oreal, and Sainsbury’s.
