Brexit confusion hits UK consumer confidence

Consumer confidence in the UK is slipping at Brexit approaches, according to the GfK Consumer Confidence Index.

The index fell by two points during September 2018, to a level of -9. Four of the measures used to calculate the index fell, while one remained static.

The clock is ticking down and in September the consumer mood dropped a couple of notches,” says GfK client strategy director Joe Staton. “For the general economy, they can only reflect on the obvious uncertainty surrounding Brexit.”
