Clip 'n Climb to join leisure line-up at Intu Metrocentre

Intu Metrocentre is to expand its leisure offer further, with the opening of a Clip ‘n Climb centre in time to capitalise on increased footfall over the summer.

The 344 sq m (3,700 sq ft) climbing attraction will provide 26 colourful climbing walls within the mall space, allowing it to cater for a wide range of ages and climbing abilities. It will include an augmented climbing wall that features projected graphics and motion sensors to create interactive games.

Clip ‘N Climb is operated by Namco UK, which already runs the Funscape entertainment centre at Intu Metrocentre and is launching an Angry Birds adventure golf course there this year.

“Intu Metrocentre’s high footfall, wide range of top-performing retail brands and complementary leisure offer makes it the perfect location to launch the latest Clip ‘n Climb. The centre’s Funscape is one of our most successful venues so we know that Clip ‘n Climb is going to do equally well at intu Metrocentre,” says Namco commercial director Philip Millward.

Indoor climbing walls are an increasingly popular attraction which are seeing visitor growth of between 15-20 per cent a year, according to the Association of British Climbing Walls.
