Design showcase: Pop-up hotel to highlight chocolate luxury by Dove

Chocolate brand Dove – owned by Mars Wrigley Global and known as Galaxy to UK consumers – has opened The Dove Hotel to provide a fully immersive pop-up experience for customers in Shanghai.

The brand owner appointed YourStudio to develop the attraction following research that showed the importance of pleasure to our general wellbeing. The Dove Hotel has been designed to engage visitors in every sense, and to reveal each guest’s unique pleasure profile – though visitors don’t have the option to spend a night at the venue.

Guests book into the hotel via an app and receive a personal Pleasure Profile Key Card when they check in. They travel in a lift to an infinity mirror corridor before moving through a series of immersive and larger-than-life bedroom suites. Each room centres on bringing the story of Dove chocolate to life, using projections, sounds and scents.

A Milk Chocolate Suite relates the sensation of flowing through smooth chocolate, through chocolate coloured silk bedsheets. In the White Chocolate Room an oversized bed is mounted on the wall of a room filled with white chocolate bubble balls.

Before visitors leave there is a Pleasure Lounge with a Dove Bespoke Bar, where ‘chocolate masters’ and artists are at work to help create unique chocolate combinations.

The hotel, located on Sinan Road in Shanghai, will be open until mid-November.
