Improved leisure offer boosts footfall and sales at Springfields Outlet

Lincolnshire’s Springfields Outlet Shopping centre has seen a 5 per cent increase in footfall and a 7 per cent increase in revenue in the 12 months since it opened an expanded leisure offer.

The centre, managed by Sanderson Leisure and Retail (SLR) credits the opening of Adventure Land with attracting more visitors and for broadening its customer base. According to British Retail Consortium (BRC) and Springboard figures, footfall declined by 1.7 per cent at full-price sector stores over the same period.

Adventure Land features a range of attractions designed to appeal to young children, and has encourage visitors to travel from further afield, and to stay longer at the centre.

“The provision of the integrated leisure offer has really brought the scheme to life. Springfields has been doing exceptionally well, bucking retail trends when compared to full-price destinations, and Adventure Land has helped to really accelerate this,” says SLR director Ian Sanderson.

“The destination is increasingly making a name for itself as a must-visit attraction in the region. With something that appeals to everyone, we are confident that the planned expansion will help to drive the destination forward, creating an even more dynamic and appealing offer to an even broader catchment.”

In addition to appealing to shoppers, the added leisure offer has attracted new retail tenants to the centre. Retailers including Jack Wills, Joules, and White Stuff have opened stores over the last year.
