Lighting focus: Fortnum & Mason

London department store Fortnum & Mason appointed lighting design agency Speirs + Major to create a new lighting scheme for its newly refurbished ground floor level.

The retailer – which has traded from its Piccadilly site for more than 300 years – briefed the agency to create a scheme that provided the best possible colour rendering, along with precision illumination focused on the merchandise.

Speirs + Major used Yori Evo Box luminaires from Reggiani, with more than 300 of the units installed, equipped with a 24 LED and precision optic. A diffusive lens was used to gently spread and soften beam angles to achieve precision light control, providing a balanced lit effect on target merchandise with no overspill. The Yori system could be retrofitted onto the existing lighting track.
