Lighting showcase: How XXXLutz installed LED systems across its Austrian store network

Furniture chain XXXLutz has 46 stores and 55 warehouses in Austria, and was seeking to unlock the benefits of LED lighting – which include lower costs and improved light quality as well as energy saving – with the minimum disruption.

The retailer appointed Zumtobel Group Services to handle the entire project, ensuring there was just one point of contact for the entire scheme, helping to make planning easier and simpler. The entire project took two years, with such minimal disruption that the project is now to extended to the retailer’s network of stores in Germany.

“The excellent project management meant that we could save time and money – and we barely noticed any effect on the flow of goods or the performance of the individual stores,” says XXXLutz facility manager Geord Weikirchner.

Some of the sites already used older luminaries from Zumtobel’s Tecton range, which was designed for speedy mounting. These could easily be replaced by newer LED ranges. Store atrium spaces are now illuminated with two LED luminaries: Craft from Zumtobel and HiPak from Thorn.

Narrow beam versions of the Craft range highlight the steel structures under the glass roof, while the HiPak units are fitted with a reflector that creates an effect of added depth.
