Mixed-use refurbishment completes in Covent Garden

A £10m project to refurbish a mixed-use retail and office building between Leicester Square and Covent Garden in Central London has been completed.

The site at 143 Long Acre, in a prominent corner position, has been designed by Ian Ritchie Architects. It now offers a 372 sq m (4,000 sq ft) flagship store – currently vacant – on the ground floor, with 706 sq m (7,600 sq ft) of offices, named The Arbour, across five floors above. There is also a private roof terrace.

The property has been developed by Longmartin Properties, a joint venture between Shaftesbury and The Mercers’ Company. “The retail space, in particular, is set amongst a great line-up of the UK and international brands on Long Acre and neighbouring St Martin’s Courtyard,” says Longmartin Properties property director Simon Taylor.

“Our significant investment in this project highlights our commitment to delivering a high-quality mixed-use space within the heart of Covent Garden. Taking full advantage of its unique positioning in London’s West End, this redevelopment sets the benchmark for the future plans of the Longmartin Estate. All elements of the building have been carefully considered to complement the rich heritage within the area, while still delivering a statement retail and office space,” adds Shaftesbury portfolio executive Charles Owen.
