Sweet Chick joins growing UK line up of chicken brands

Sweet Chick is gearing up to be the latest US chicken restaurant brand to set up shop in the UK.

The chain, founded in Brooklyn in 2013 and backed by rapper Nas, has five locations in New York and Los Angeles. It has now secured a site close to Oxford Circus in London’s West End, through property group Shelley Sandzer. It plans to open in early autumn.

Sweet Chick’s menu features American comfort food dishes, with signature fried chicken that has been marinated overnight in a sweet-tea stained brine, and waffles.

“I can’t wait to bring the Sweet Chick community to the UK. The food scene is massive in London, but we hope we can offer something fresh with our take on southern inspired staples and the best fried chicken and waffles this side of the Atlantic,” says Sweet Chick founder John Seymour.

Other chicken brands to have launched or expanded recently in the UK include Jamaya, Monga Fried Chicken, Slim Chickens, and Thunderbird Fried Chicken.
