Unmanned 24 hour physical store for Spanish online furniture retailer Tudecora

Spanish online furniture retailer Tudecora.com has opened an unmanned physical store, open 24 hours a day but accessible only by customers who have downloaded a mobile app.

The store - called #tudecora_open – allows customers to touch and interact with the furniture without interruption. The retailer specialises in home furnishings made of solid wood.

The door locks are opened by the free-to-download app, while the store is monitored remotely by a system of cameras and sensors.

The unstaffed store, in Guadalajara, has been designed in-house by Tudecora.com director Miguel Angel López de Blas.

Once customers have downloaded the app and established their identity, they can use the store.

They open the app when around 10m from the shop’s door to gain entry. Shoppers can stay as long as they like, and can make orders from a touch screen in the store, for home delivery. The app is used again to exit and lock the store.

Assistance is available by telephone at any point in the process.
