Waterstones to open Silverburn's first dedicated bookshop

Book retailer Waterstones is to open a branch at Glasgow Silverburn in September. The store will be the first dedicated bookshop at the centre.

The 557 sq m (6,000 sq ft) store has been designed by an in-house team. Arranged over two floors, it will offer a comprehensive range of books, stationery and gifts, along with a dedicated space for local authors.

“Our Scottish bookshops have been enjoying extraordinary success these last few years, and we are delighted to add to their number. Silverburn is exactly the kind of vibrant shopping centre in which we thrive and we aim to give it an exceptional bookshop,” says Waterstones managing director James Daunt.

“Waterstones is a great example of a brand that delivers a really immersive in-store experience, and that’s exactly what we are looking for across our portfolio. I’m sure the new store, our first ever dedicated bookshop in Silverburn, will be a great addition to the destination,” says Iain Mitchell, UK commercial director at Silverburn owner Hammerson.
