Work booth service to trial at Grand Central shopping mall

Visitors to the Bullring and Grand Central shopping centres in Birmingham will be able to use a quiet office space, bookable via a mobile app, if they need to catch up on their work.

My Work Booth will be installing two of its booths, which will allow users to find a soundproof space for phone calls, charge their mobile devices, and even hold small meetings or video conferences. The booths have been designed and built by acoustic space specialist Framery.

“I was spending all my time between appointments in cafes, looking for the nearest power point and making professional calls was impossible with all the loud music and chatter. I saw a gap in the market for a rentable quiet space where you could get some proper work done,” says My Work Booth founder Neil Jenkins.

Booked through the My Work Booth app, the booths area available for as little as 15 minutes, at a cost of £12. The app includes a feature to unlock the booth.

The first booths will be installed later this month for a trial period of six weeks in the Grand Central mall, above New Street station.
