'Zero gravity' selfie attraction rolling out to Intu centres in exclusive deal

A ‘zero gravity’ selfie attraction is to be rolled out to more shopping centres after a successful launch at Intu Lakeside.

Upside Down House installs – as its name suggests – upside down houses for visitors to explore. Inside, they are encouraged to take spectacular photographs to share via social media channels.

Upside Down House UK launched its first site in 2018, in Bournemouth, but has now entered an exclusive partnership with Intu. It is to open branches at Intu centres at Trafford Centre, Metrocentre, and Braehead.

Each two storey house will feature a number of upside-down rooms to explore, with interiors designed in-house to reflect their locations.

“I am extremely excited to announce this exclusive partnership with Intu. It is an astonishing opportunity to showcase our unique attraction in more high footfall locations now than ever. This will give everyone around the UK the chance to experience what it’s like to walk on the ceiling, take amazing photos and share them with your friends and families online and in person,” says Upside Down House UK CEO Tom Dirse.

“The Upside Down House is a fun experience for all the family where your world is literally turned upside down,” says Intu customer experience director Roger Binks. “It has been a huge draw at Intu Lakeside and perfectly complements the transformation of this much-loved centre into a place to relax, unwind, eat, play and shop. We run some of the country’s most popular retail destinations so really see its potential to thrive at Intu’s high footfall locations across the UK.”
